Membership

Who is eligible to join?

Membership in the Division is open to Irish-Catholic males who are at least 16 years of age.  Catholic Priests & Deacons are always welcome to join as well and need not be Irish or of Irish Descent.

Not Catholic but interested in becoming Catholic?  We offer an Assoicate Membership.  You won't be able to attend our monthly meetings, but you are able to participate in all of our events and socials.  We'll also connect with you a Priest to start your journey of becoming Catholic and a full member of our division!

What does Irish-Catholic mean?

Irish-Catholic means that you are either from Ireland or of Irish descent AND of the Catholic faith.  Do you have questions or concerns about meeting these qualifications?  Go ahead and apply and our Membership Chair will be happy to talk through your unique circumstances.

Why should I join?

The Ancient Order of Hibernians is a national organization along with state and local divisions.  We are a fraternal organization that, by joining, connects you with like-minded members from all over the United States.

As a fraternal organization, or brotherhood, we support each other and are ready to lend a helping hand.  We also like to socialize and plan regular social events to stay connected.

Benefits include:

  • A Membership card that grants you admittance to over 126 AOH Divisions and Halls across North America.
  • Subscription to the bi-monthly National AOH newspaper, The Hibernian Digest.
  • The opportunity to attend our biennial National Convention to network and build connections with members from across the country.
  • National Scholarships for members and their families.
  • Participation in local, regional, and national fraternal organization networking.
  • Community involvement in dinners, picnics, festivals, parties, sports and theater. An outlet for professional energies and expertise.
  • An opportunity to experience Irish culture by promoting lectures, films, discussion groups, entertainment, etc.
  • Activities and programs for the entire family.
  • The development of life-long friendships

How do I join?

Admission to the division is a straight-forward multistep process:

  1. It all starts with completing an application and sending it to our Membership Chair.
  2. The Membership Chair will review the application and interview you either over the phone or in person.  This allows the Membership Chair to get to know you a little better and feel confident that you meet the minimum criteria to join.
  3. Assuming all goes well in the interview, you will be invited to the next Officer's Meeting.  You'll present yourself to the leaders of the division during this meeting to explain why you'd like to join.
  4. The last step in the process is to attend the next General Membership meeting.  At this meeting, you'll present yourself to all the division members as a candidate for membership.  You'll answer a few questions and then the division will take a vote.  If all goes well, then you'll be our newest brother!

What's the Cost?

There is a $15 one-time non-refundable application fee.  There are also annual membership dues.  The annual dues are are follows and are prorated for your first year of membership:

  • General Members (Under 65): Dues are $60
  • Seniors (65+): Dues are $50
  • Full Time Students: Dues are $50
